2015 Chevy Colorado Pickup
You first saw the Chevrolet Colorado in 2004 – it replaced the popular S-10 models. The Colorado took a break in 2012, but it is back! Though not yet available at Classic Chevrolet and other dealerships, as soon as Chevrolet releases it, you will be able to test drive it. While the Colorado is a mid-size pickup truck, it still has a lot of horsepower.
The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado will feature a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine or an optional 3.6-liter V-6. Both engines will feature variable valve timing and direct injection. Both will also have a six-speed automatic transmission to transfer the power to the rear wheels. Regardless of engine size, the maximum towing capacity will be about 6,700 pounds.
As for horsepower and torque, the numbers are not quite pinned down yet, but Chevrolet expects the four-cylinder engine to put out 193 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The company expects the V-6 engine to put out 302 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Chevrolet also has a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel planned for the 2016 models.
If you are interested in the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, you’ll have a choice of three models: the extended cab or crew cab with a 5-foot bed or the crew cab with a 6-foot bed. Trim levels include the WT, LT and Z71. All three trim levels will be available in two-wheel or four-wheel drive configurations. The Z71 will feature gunmetal trim instead of the chrome on the WT and LT, and will have unique 17-inch wheels and projector headlights.
All models will feature a coil-over front suspension with electric power steering and low-mass aluminum knuckles. All models will also feature four-wheel disc brakes and Duralife brake rotors. The bed features a two-tier loading system – it is designed so that it can be split into upper and lower sections. The bed also features 13 tie-down locations.
The interior will feature cloth seats – or you can choose the optional leather seats. All models will feature a center console, sculpted headliner, a floor-mounted shifter and tons of storage. The Z71 has its own interior trim including contrasting stitching and embossed seatbacks.
Technology will include an 8-inch color touch screen on the LT and Z71; and all models will feature a dedicated area for a smart phone, multiple USB ports, MyLink and OnStar. Certain models and/or trim levels will also feature six airbags, lane departure warning, forward collision alert and a rear vision camera. The Z71 will also feature StabiliTrack, hill start assist, hill descent control and trailer sway control.

History of the Chevrolet Impala
When you stop by Classic Chevrolet to test drive a new Impala, you may not be thinking about the history of the vehicle. However, the Impala has come a long way since the first generation of Impalas. The first one was presented in 1956 at the GM Motoramas. The 1958 Impala – the first year it was offered – had tons of chrome and deeply sculpted fenders. It also had the first dual headlamps and triple tail lights for Chevrolet. In a bold move, Chevrolet moved from semi-elliptic leaf springs in the rear to coil springs.
In the second generation, the Impala was wider, lower and leaner. It also featured a bat-wing tail motif. This generation brought four-door hardtops and sedans to consumers. The third generation was a complete redesign for 1961. These Impala models were boxier, plus Chevrolet introduced a wagon body style. It also kicked off the muscle car days. The first Impala SS featured a 6.7-liter/408 cubic-inch big block engine.
The fourth generation was introduced in 1965 and this was the year that Chevrolet passed the million-units-per-year mark. The four-door hardtop was the Impala Caprice. This generation also saw nine different V-8 engines, from a small 238 cubic-inch engine to the 454 cubic-inch big block engine. The base engine on the Impala was the 4.1-liter V-6 engine (250 cubic inches).
The fifth generation was introduced in 1971 and it was the largest Impala ever produced. When unleaded fuel became available in 1972, it required lower engine compression ratios and reduced power. That was the last year that the Impala was available in a convertible.
Generation six Impalas first appeared in 1977 and they were much smaller and weighed much less than previous Impala. The demand for Impalas dropped significantly and the Impala was retired in 1985 – or at least the nameplate. The “new” Impala was the Caprice.
Generation seven Impalas saw a refreshed platform and were available as the 1994 model. The Impala was a four-door model and had a rounded exterior design. It did have SS badging and police underpinnings. However, this didn’t last – the Impala badge was once again retired in 1996.
In 2000, the eighth generation came to be as a front-wheel drive vehicle with a V-6 engine. The four-door body style sat on a unibody construction . In 2004 and 2005, the Impala got an upgrade to a 3.8-liter supercharged engine that made 240 horsepower.
The ninth generation started in 2006 with a 5.3-liter V-8 engine, front-wheel drive model. This generation also saw three additional trim levels and police packages. The 2014 Impala is the tenth generation and features Epsilon II components and very minimal changes to the dimensions of the vehicle. This is the first year that Chevrolet put a four-cylinder engine in a large sedan. However, the exterior and interior design has changed significantly, plus the 2014 also features infotainment and safety features.
For a full list of trim levels, options and standard equipment, stop by Classic Chevrolet or keep an eye on this space.
Silverado Cheyenne Lightweight Concept
Chevrolet is coming out with a lighter Silverado – the Cheyenne model. When it is released, it will be available at Classic Chevrolet – a nice addition to the many Silverado models already available at the dealership. The concept Silverado Cheyenne will be debuted at a SEMA show. Not only is it lightweight, but it has a big V-8 engine.
To drop weight, the bumpers, inner cargo box and the tailgate are made of carbon fiber. The original weight is 4,503 pounds and the diet dropped the Cheyenne’s weight by about 200 pounds. The Cheyenne will also feature carbon ceramic brakes – the same type on the Camaro Z/28. The rotors weigh less than conventional rotors normally found on pickup trucks.
Furthermore, the Cheyenne won’t have a spare tire, trailer hitch or center console. Also, some of the insulation was removed, all in the name of saving weight. The wheels, rear leaf springs and the driveshaft are all aluminum, further reducing the weight of the truck.
When you reduce the weight of a vehicle, you get more horsepower. The heavier something is, the more horsepower it takes to move it. Thus, a vehicle weighing in at 4,500 pounds will have a higher 60-second time than a vehicle that weighs in at 3,000 pounds. You gain about a tenth of a second per 100 pounds. The 6.2-liter engine in the new Cheyenne will put out 420 horsepower.
If you are in the market for a truck for lightweight duties, such as occasional hauling such as a load in the bed, the Cheyenne is for you. You’ll get better fuel economy plus the usefulness of a truck. If you need something to tow a travel trailer, toy hauler or for a work truck that is constantly hauling heavy loads, you may want to consider one of the other Silverado trucks.
Keep your eye on this spot for more information about the lightweight Cheyenne as it becomes available or stop by Classic Chevrolet today to test drive one of the other Silverado models on the lot.

Additional equipment includes four-wheel disc brakes with DURALIFE rotors, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, StabiliTrak with Proactive Roll Avoidance, traction control, hill start assist and trailer sway control.
The infotainment system features a 4.2-inch diagonal color screen touch display with the MyLink audio system, USB ports, SD card slot, auxiliary jack, Bluetooth, Pandora and voice-activated technology. The system also features a CD/MP3 player and SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

Chevy and Siri Make a Good Team!
When you visit Classic Chevrolet to test drive certain 2014 vehicle models, you’ll find that they include Chevrolet MyLink with Siri. The feature is called the Siri Eyes Free Integration system. According to Chevrolet’s Vice President of U.S. Marketing, Chris Perry, customer response to the system has been outstanding. Perry stated that “Easy, reliable and portable connectivity is a top priority for our customers,” and also stated that MyLink and Siri work well together.
You can hook up your iPhone to Chevrolet’s MyLink system as long as it is running iOS 6 or iOS 7. You can ask Siri to perform several tasks while you keep your eyes on the road. The system also allows you to interact with your iPhone with only your voice, plus it keeps the screen from lighting up.
To use the system, simply connect your iPhone to MyLink with Bluetooth; and you use the steering wheel voice activation button to start and end sessions in Eyes Free mode. The new system will be available on the 2014 Camaro, Malibu, Equinox, Cruze, SS and the Volt.
You can make voice-activated calls to any contact on your iPhone, play songs from your iTunes libraries, switch music sources between the regular AM/FM radio, XM radio and iPod, compose and listen to iMessages or text messages, and even access the calendar to add an appointment.
Each vehicle’s entertainment system other than the Siri connection varies with the model and trim level. But you can expect an excellent system regardless of which vehicle you choose. The Malibu features an AM/FM stereo with MP3 playback and a CD player. It also features a Radio Data System and SiriusXM satellite radio.

What Makes Classic Chevy So Classic
It’s not often a Chevrolet dealer gets to pat itself on the back, but Classic Chevrolet can. Not only has it won many awards, including the #1 Volume in Sales for the seventh consecutive year, but the dealership often sponsors events and helps out charities. Furthermore, it has the biggest selection of Silverado pickup trucks you’ll find anywhere.
Classic Chevy's 21st Annual Chili Cook-Off is coming up on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013. You’ll get to taste many wonderful chili recipes, listen to live music, and can participate in a canned food drive. In addition to the annual chili cook-off, Classic Chevy sponsors a golf tournament and is involved in other events to raise money for charity.
Don Johnson, the U.S. Vice President of Chevrolet Sales and Service, summed up Classic Chevrolet pretty well when he presented the dealership with its #1 Volume for Sales award in February 2013: “You don’t get anything until you sell the car. But you don’t get that sale in the first place without keeping your customers and your employees happy. Tom Durant can attract great people, develop them, and then, most importantly, let them succeed.”
You can see for yourself what Johnson is talking about when you visit Classic Chevrolet and meet with your salesperson to test drive your next new vehicle. The employees are well-versed in the vehicles on the lot and if they don’t have an answer, they will get you an answer. Not only are they knowledgeable, but they are happy employees. If it weren’t for the sales staff, the administrative staff, management, and everyone helping to pitch in for charity events, Classic Chevrolet wouldn’t have won so many awards.
When you visit the dealership, you can expect nothing but the best as far as customer and vehicle service are concerned.
Performance parts for Camaro
When you purchase your new fifth generation Camaro from Classic Chevrolet, you can order it with performance parts. If the dealership installs the performance parts, which come directly from Chevrolet, you won’t void the vehicle’s warranty. The parts are available through Chevrolet Performance. You can also purchase your new Camaro and order the parts from Chevrolet Performance later – as long as the dealership installs them, the warranty on the Camaro is still good.
The COPO Kit: If you’ve always wanted a COPO but could not afford it, you can still have a COPO car. You can get the COPO hood, the logo gauges and other parts from the production COPO model.
ZL1 Brake Kits: You can get the ZL1 brake kits for the front and rear of the Camaro SS. The front kit consists of six-piston Brembo calipers with ZL1 logos and aluminum housings, 14.6-inch front two-piece rotors, brake pads and mounting hardware. The rear kit consists of two rear calipers, the brake pads and installation hardware.
You can also get a ZL1front and rear brake kit for the V-6 Camaro. This kit includes 14.6-inch front brake components and 14.4-inch rear brake components, though you will have to convert to 20-inch wheels so you have enough room for the calipers.
Additional Parts: You can also get a ZL1 short-throw sifter that replaces the six-speed manual transmission shifter in the Camaro SS and a rear driveline system. The rear driveline system kit consists of a complete rear axle system designed to reduce wheel hop. It includes a 9.9-inch ring gear with a limited slip differential, driveshaft and stronger half shafts. The kit fits the SS and V-6 models. The gear ratio for the manual transmission in is 3.71:1 and for the automatic, a 3.23:1 ratio.
Chevrolet Performance also has 1LE parts. The Track Pack is a suspension kit that features a 27mm stabilizer bar for the front, 28mm stabilizer bar for the rear, retuned front struts, different monotube rear shocks, and better/stiffer toe links and rear shock mounts.
For a full list of available performance parts, stop in at Classic Chevrolet. While you’re there, test drive the new Camaro. You can discuss the parts you want to upgrade with your salesperson and upgrade the Camaro before you take it home.
2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel review
Chevrolet manufactured a new Cruze trim level for the 2014 model year – the Cruze Diesel, which is available at Classic Chevrolet. The Diesel features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine and is at the top of the lineup. The Cruze features great handling balance and a sophisticated ride – and surprisingly for a compact sedan, a large trunk. The rear seat provides adequate space, but might be a tight fit for taller people.
The 2.0-liter Diesel engine gets about 33 mpg combined, 27 mpg in the city and 47 mpg on the highway. It’s also quicker than it’s only competition in its class – the Jetta TDI.
The 2014 Cruze Diesel features all of the standard equipment in the 1LT and 2LT including the MyLInk touch screen interface, power driver seat, four-wheel disc brakes, a sport-tuned suspension, heated front seats and leather upholstery. It also features the same aerodynamic enhancements that come standard with the Eco trim level. The Diesel also features low-rolling-resistance tires and 17-inch wheels with a different design than the other models’ 17-inch wheels.
The Cruze Diesel’s engine puts out 151 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque. It is backed by a six-speed automatic transmission. According to Edmunds, Chevrolet estimates that the Cruze Diesel will hit 60 mph in about 8.6 seconds.
Safety features include stability control, side curtain airbags the full length of the side of the vehicle, several other airbags, antilock brakes and OnStar. The OnStar system features on-demand roadside assistance, automatic crash notification, stolen vehicle assistance and remote door unlocking.
The Cruze earned a five-star rating for safety plus the top score of “Good” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety testing.
The interior features a two-tone color scheme and looks very upscale. The MyLink touch screen interface features voice control and the front seats are supportive. They are also comfortable and have several adjustments. The trunk features a whopping 15.4 cubic feet of space and is one of the largest cargo spaces in its class.
To see all of the features and options available for the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel, stop by Classic Chevrolet to test drive the new model.
Chevrolet Malibu turns 50
Celebrate the Chevrolet Malibu’s 50th birthday by stopping by Classic Chevrolet to test drive the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu 2LZ. You’ll find plenty of infotainment, comfort and safety features. While Malibus of the past were full size sedans, today’s Malibu is a mid-size sedan. The Malibu was first sold in 1964 and is on its eighth generation.
The first generation ran from 1964 through 1967. It was launched as a premium family sedan, but got caught up in the muscle wars. Just after the Malibu was introduced, a sporty model was released – the SS. The SS Chevelle won the muscle car war and the Malibu remained a premium family sedan.
The second generation ran from 1968 through 1972. The second gen Malibu had a slightly shorter wheelbase – 112 inches – for convertibles and coupes, while the 116-inch wheelbase was reserved for wagons and sedans. Every model year had different styling differences.
The third generation Malibu ran from 1973 through 1977. This generation featured a new frame with the same wheelbases from the second generation. However, new federal crash standards had been released so the bodies were 5 inches longer and an inch wider.
The fourth generation saw a shorter – 12 inches – Malibu. The Malibu also went on a diet – it was 500 pounds lighter. This generation ran from 1978 through 1983. Instead of offering only the V-8 engine, it also featured a V-6 engine. In 1977, the Chevelle line was discontinued. Chevrolet also added a police package for the Malibu during this generation.
The fifth generation ran from 1997 through 2003 after a hiatus from 1984 through 1997. In 1997, the Malibu was reborn as a front-wheel drive sedan and featured a four- or six-cylinder engine. In 1997, the Malibu was named Motor Trend Car of the Year.
The sixth generation ran from 2004 through 2007. This generation saw more technology, was more efficient and performed better. The Malibu SS also returned to the party. The SS version featured a 240-horsepower 3.9-liter V-6 engine. This generation also saw the Malibu Maxx, a five-door extended sedan that provided tons of extra cargo room.
The seventh generation ran from 2008 through 2012 and had even more performance, and was more efficient and refined. It included more safety features including head curtain side air bags. The seventh gen Malibu also won the 2008 North American Car of the Year at Detroit’s North American International Auto Show.
This brings us to the eighth generation Malibu – the 2013 and 2014 model years. In 2013, the Malibu was redesigned, and in 2014 it underwent more changes for more efficiency, more technology and more comfort features. It also received a new front-end. This generation features a 2.0-liter turbo engine that puts out 259 horsepower.

If you want to roll into the holidays and the new year in style like Matt Bonner, San Antonio Spurs forward, stop by Classic Chevrolet to test drive a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. Chevy SS at Talladega Speedway in October
Chevrolet made a good showing at the October 2013 race at Talladega, and not just on the track. The Chevrolet SS was at the race, along with other Chevrolet models including the Sonic, Malibu, Cruze, Camaro, Impala, Equinox, Corvette and the Traverse. The 2014 Silverado was also at the track so that people could check out these excellent Chevrolets. If you didn’t make it to the race, you can check those vehicles out at Classic Chevrolet.
Chevrolet set up a display so that fans could see some of the show cars including the NASCAR Sprint Series No. 88 National Guard Chevrolet SS and the NASCAR Nationwide Series No. 3 AdvoCare Chevrolet Camaro.
Fans also got to see engines, accessories and parts in the Team Chevy Display. These items are available at Classic Chevrolet for purchase. It wasn’t all cars and parts, either – Chevrolet also had interactive games for children and adults.
Over the years, Chevys won 38 of the 89 races that have been run at Talladega. Jeff Gordon won in the #24 Axalta Chevrolet SS in 1996, 2000, 2004, 2005 and twice in 2007. Dale Earnhardt, Jr., won in the #88 Mountain Dew/Xbox One Chevrolet SS in 2001, twice in 2002, once in 2003 and once in 2004.
Furthermore, Jimmie Johnson won in the #48 Lowe’s Chevrolet SS in 2006 and 2011 while Kevin Harvick won driving the #29 Jimmy John’s Chevrolet SS in 2010. Jamie McMurray drove the #1 Cessna Chevrolet SS to a win at Talladega in 2009.
According to GM’s media site, a driver in a Chevrolet won five of the last ten Talladega races and a driver in a Chevrolet sat on the pole 29 times. Furthermore, Team Chevy has 169 top five plus 312 top ten finishes at the track.
If you want to see the Chevrolets featured at Team Chevy’s Talladega display – with the exception of the show cars, of course – visit Classic Chevy. You can test drive the Camaro SS and the Corvette. If big V-8 power is not your style, you can test drive the Cruze or any of the other smaller vehicles.
Chevy Presence at the Texas Motor Speedway this Weekend!
Chevrolet will be at the Texas Motor Speedway this weekend and will have a tent set up so you can see the auto manufacturer’s offerings, including information on the 2014 Silverado, now available at Classic Chevrolet. Furthermore, Chevrolet has a pretty high stake in this race as its top driver is just about equal in point standings with a Toyota driver. Even if you’re not a NASCAR fan, you can’t give up missing this race. It’s even better if you can see it in person. You’ll get the best of both worlds: Seeing a historical moment in racing history and getting to visit Chevrolet’s tent.
Chevrolet will be racing Toyota; the cars’ drivers are tied in the championship standings for the first time in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Jimmie Johnson, driving the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet and Matt Kenseth, driving No. 20 Home Depot/Dollar General’s Toyota, have the closest point spread this year, beating last year’s marginal point spread of two points.
The drivers will battle for points on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013 at Texas Motor Speedway in the AAA Texas 500. This race is the most important race in the 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup. Both drivers have championship careers and both have dominated in their careers. Kenseth has the edge over Johnson, so the Chevrolet car has to be in top form as does Johnson. Kenseth lead for a total of 772 laps at Texas Motor Speedway and has twelve top five finishes.
Johnson has nine top five finishes, all runner-up finishes, and won the AAA Texas 500 in 2011. Both drivers are confident of their win in Sunday’s race. Johnson said, “It’s going to be a dogfight to the end.”
If you are going to be at the race, be sure to stop by the Chevrolet tent to check out vehicles, parts, performance parts and more. Then stop by Classic Chevrolet to test drive the new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. You can choose from several trim levels; Classic Chevrolet has the largest Silverado inventory in the entire metroplex.
Pink Chevy Camaro on display for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Chevrolet created a special pink-themed Camaro SS to use as the pace car in select NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races to show General Motors’ support of the charity Making Strides Through Breast Cancer.
You can test drive a Camaro SS like the NASCAR pace car at Classic Chevrolet – and when you buy it you can support Breast Cancer in your own way by displaying a pink ribbon on your new Camaro.
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month has been promoting the awareness and dangers of breast cancer for over 25 years. Even though there have been great strides in treating breast cancer over the years, there is still a lot of work to do to make people aware of the treatment that is available and to make them aware of the importance of getting checked.
The pink Camaro SS was already seen at the Advocare 500 in Georgia in September 2013. Furthermore, a special 2014 Corvette Stingray will be the pace car for the IZOD IndyCar Series event at the Auto Club Speedway in October.
For every test drive that a customer takes, Chevrolet donates $10 to the cause, plus donates $200 for every caution lap run in the NASCAR series. In 2012, Chevrolet contributed to the $1,211,463 that the American Cancer Society raised for research, breast cancer awareness education, wellness and support for families of cancer patients.
The 2014 Camaro features a 6.2-liter engine that puts out 426 horsepower at 5,900 rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque at 4,600 rpm. It features a 3.45 rear gear in the limited slip differential, four-wheel antilock disc brakes and Brembo performance four-piston calipers on the front. The rear also features four-piston calipers.
Safety features include StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, several airbags including a passenger sensing airbag, daytime running lamps, rear parking assist, a rearview camera display that is integrated into the Color Touch Radio, three-point safety belts and the LATCH system for child car seats. The Camaro SS also features OnStar with six months of Directions and Connection Plan, which includes stolen vehicle assistance, automatic crash response and navigation.
Stop by Classic Chevy today to test drive the Camaro SS or the Corvette Stingray. Not only will you walk out of the dealership with your next new car, but you’ll also help Chevrolet donate to the breast cancer cause.

Classic Chevy Truck Auction
If you keep an old Chevrolet from Classic Chevy, you may find that it could be worth more than 40 times its original sales price years down the road, if you keep it in good condition. Lambrecht Chevrolet in Pierce, Neb. auctioned off several vehicles that dated back to the 1950s. The little town, which has a population of about 1,800 people saw more than 10,000 people, they came to bid and to look at the old classic Chevrolet vehicles.
The vehicles sold were a mix of sports cars, sedans and trucks. Some of the vehicle had less than a few miles on them. The models were either never sold or they were trade-ins that Ray Lambrecht, the dealership’s owner, decided that he wasn’t going to sell. Of the many vehicles, about 25 were stored inside. The rest were left out in a field.
One person said that finding cars in such good condition is unheard of, and he’s right. Most of the old cars you find now, the vehicles that haven’t been touched, are full of rust and have a trashed interior. It takes thousands of dollars to restore them to their original condition.
Some of the cars at the auction still had their price stickers and plastic on the seats. An Impala that would have sold for about $3,000 in 1964 could sell for 40 times that price today. The auction was tracked by Top Gear and the History Channel. During the auction, a 1958 Chevrolet Cameo pickup sold for $140,000 miles. It had 1.3 miles on it.
Other vehicles that sold included a 1963 Impala with 11 miles on it – it sold for $97,500. A 1978 Corvette Indy pace car with four miles on it sold for $80,000 and a 1958 Chevrolet Apache 31 Series Pickup with a whopping five miles on it sold for $80,000.
Most of the vehicles had original paperwork that went with them. They all got a new bill of sale and Nebraska title.
Certain models hold their value after many years, even though they lose value when you drive them off the lot. For those with foresight, they can keep a Corvette or an Impala from Classic Chevrolet in excellent condition and may find they have something worth more than just a few dollars years down the road.

NHSTA Scores out!
The new National Highway Traffic Safety Administration scores are out and Chevrolet has seven vehicles with a 5-Star overall safety rating. This is more than any other brand. The Sonic, Volt, Cruze, Traverse, Impala, Silverado 1500 Crew Cab and Camaro Coupe, all 2014 models and all available at Classic Chevrolet, got the 5-Star Overall Score.
Every new Chevrolet includes vehicle safety standard and safety regulations in their designs and performance requirements. According to Chevrolet, around 40 percent of crash load cases are based on regulatory requirements and the other 60 percent are based on GM’s internal requirements. Those requirements for vehicle crashworthiness and safety exceed federal requirements.
GM research, according to Chevrolet, shows that one of the top 10 reasons for someone to purchase a particular vehicle is safety. In 2012, 54 percent of GMC, Chevrolet, Cadillac and Buick customers listed safety features on a vehicle as “extremely important.”
Chevrolet uses active safety technologies such as lane departure warning and forward collision alert. These technologies help the driver to avoid a crash. Many new Chevrolet vehicles, including those offered at a Texas Chevy dealer, have these advanced active safety technologies.
The Silverado also offers a brand new technology, the Safety Alert Seat. The seat pulses to alert the driver when the computer senses potential hazards.
2014 Chevrolet Cruze, one of the models that received a 5-Star Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Passive safety features include airbags, up to 10 in some models, such as the Cruze. The Sonic was the first subcompact car to feature 10 standard airbags. The Traverse features the front center airbag, which is an industry first.
Chevrolet also offers OnStar on all models. This feature allows occupants to get emergency help by using the Automatic Crash Response.
Stop by Classic Chevy today to test drive any of the models on the lot. Whether you want a subcompact, sedan, sports car, pickup or SUV, you will find what you need at Classic Chevrolet.

Chevy Cruze Diesel outperforms reputation The 2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel, soon to be available at a Texas Chevy dealer, has turned some heads. It bested GM’s reputation for small cars and gets the best fuel mileage of all the non-hybrid cars. According to a review by Robert Duffer of the Chicago Tribune, the Cruize got an average of just under 51 mpg* on 25 miles on the highway and about six miles in the city. The 2014 Cruze’s advertised fuel economy is 46 mpg* on the highway. On another test drive by Duffer, this time in heavy traffic, the Cruze averaged less than 24 mpg,* but is advertised to get 27 mpg* in the city. The 2014 Chevy Cruze marks a new era for Chevy because of its sporty efficiency. The vehicle was introduced in 2010, so you can get a 2013 model at Classic Chevrolet if you don’t want to wait for the 2014 models to appear. Thus far, the Cruze’s sales increase every year. In 2012, its monthly average sales were 19,813. In 2013, the monthly average sales were 22,881 units. The 2.0-liter engine is a direct injection diesel and it’s the first diesel from Chevrolet since the 1980s. This turbo diesel engine produces 90 percent lower nitrous oxide emissions that the old diesels. If you are reading this, thinking diesels are noisy, guess again: the Cruze is very quiet. Yes, you can still hear it, but it’s very muted. You can hardly hear it with the windows up and the car idling. When you are out on the road, even with the windows down, you can’t hear the “tock.” The Cruze also has an advanced sport-tuned rear suspension with Z-link, which makes it handle tightly in corners. Duffer said he didn’t feel any body roll in curves until he hit about 45 mph. Though it is slow to get off from a stop because of the turbo lag, once the car is moving, acceleration is quick. Chevy even gave the Cruze a decent interior, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather bucket seats. The steering wheel features mounted controls for audio and cruise control. The Cruze also features 17-inch aluminum painted wheels. Stop by Classic Chevy for more information on the 2014 Chevy Cruze and keep your eye on this space for availability. Classic Chevrolet: a tradition of excellence
Believe it or not, but Classic Chevrolet’s roots lie in a wrecking yard, the Durant Automobile Business, started in 1951. By 1960, Tom Durant’s father decided he wanted to expand the business and met with Mr. Durham, the local Texas Chevy dealer. Since Mr. Durham was recovering from a heart attack, he was ready to sell the business.
It wasn’t that easy, though: when officials from Chevrolet showed up at the business and Mr. Durham introduced Tom Durant’s father as the new owner, Chevrolet said he wasn’t because the change in ownership of the franchise had not been approved. But, within a few months, Chevrolet approved the sale of the franchise.
Tom Durant, the current owner of Classic Chevrolet, graduated from Texas Tech in 1972 and bought the business from his father. In 1988, he also purchased a Fort Worth Chevrolet dealership, Century Chevrolet, and renamed it Classic Chevrolet.
Tom’s brother, Jerry, was approved by Chevrolet to own his own dealership in Weatherford, Texas and, in 1969, became the youngest Chevrolet franchise owner. Of course, being brothers, they are very competitive and try to outsell each other.
In 1992, Tom decided that he wanted a newer, bigger location and looked at a location in Grapevine, Texas. The only other dealership in the area was Payton-Wright ford. Chevrolet gave him permission to build a 20,000 square-foot facility that covered 2.9 acres. Instead, he built a 45,000 square-foot facility that covered 11 acres. By 2004, Tom Durant expanded six times for a space totally 160,000 square feet over 40 acres.

Chevy Trucks for Towing: The 3500HD Silverado
If you´re in the market for a Chevy truck, you have to know what you need the truck to do before you choose a model and trim level at a Texas Chevy dealer. For example, the Silverado features several trim levels. If you need only a work truck, yet something large enough to carry the family, too, you might go after the Work Truck with the crew cab.
If you have an RV to tow, need something to carry the whole family and need something that would be great for work, you might want to go for the Silverado 3500HD with a crew cab, standard box and four-wheel drive.
This trim level allows you to be ready for any situation, whether towing a fifth wheel, taking the kids to school, getting groceries, carpooling or just driving off road. The 3500HD features a 6.0-liter Vortec engine with Variable Valve Timing. The engine runs on flex fuel or unleaded fuel and makes 380 pound-feet of torque and 322 horsepower.
It´s also equipped with a six-speed, heavy-duty transmission that features overdrive, tow/haul mode, powertrain grade braking and cruise grade braking. The 4.10 rear gear ratio gives you that extra "oomph;"ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ when you are hauling a heavy trailer up into the mountains. The four-wheel drive models feature a transfer case with electronic shift with rotary dial controls.
The trailering equipment features a heavy-duty hitch platform and a 2.5-inch receiver with a 2-inch adapter. The harness is a seven-wire harness that includes wiring for backup lamps, parking lamps, signals, battery, ground and the electric brake lead. The trailering circuits are independently fused. The 3500HD also features an integrated trailer brake.
To help with trailering, the engine features an external engine cooler and an external transmission cooler. The 125-amp alternator is perfect for an upgraded audio system and charging the 600 cold-cranking amp battery.
The independent front suspension features a torsion bar; and the rear suspension features multi-leaf springs. Four-wheel antilock disc brakes provide plenty of stopping power, even while you are towing.

Corvette Stingray 2014
Feel the need for speed? Stop in at a Texas Chevy dealer and test drive the new 2014 Corvette Stingray. The Corvette got a brand new makeover including the new name. A big complaint in the past was the quality of the interior, but Chevrolet rectified that and used better materials inside the cabin. You can choose from the base model or the Z51model. A convertible will be released later in the year.
The new Corvette still has the big V-8, the crazy grip and the huge tires – and the styling is better than it has been: You can actually tell you’re looking at a Corvette instead of playing guessing games. The 2014 Stingray’s body has also undergone a change: it is now made from aluminum with a carbon-fiber hood and roof.
Engines and Performance
The 6.2-liter V-8 engine comes standard with the Stingray and puts out 455 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. If you opt for the dual-mode exhaust system, you can increase horsepower to 460 and pound-feet of torque to 465. Then engine features direct fuel injection, cylinder deactivation and variable valve timing and gets about 17 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway when backed by a manual transmission.
This year, a seven-speed manual transmission is being offered as is the conventional six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The seventh gear in the manual transmission is a tall gear for better fuel economy. According to Edmunds, their test with a manual transmission showed the Stingray accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds.
The 2014 Corvette features the typical safety features such as antilock disc brakes, airbags and stability and traction control. It also features a rearview camera and OnStar. OnStar gives you on-demand roadside assistance, automatic crash notification, stolen vehicle assistance and remote door unlocking.
Interior and Special Features
Inside, you’ll find an improved interior with a center stack that is more prominent and features an 8-inch touchscreen display. The display uses the MyLink interface, which includes smartphone integration. You can also customize the display in the gauge cluster. Chevrolet now uses soft-touch materials and better leather stitching. The seats are more rigid and supportive for more lateral support.

BBOMG Event in Detroit: Classic Sponsored and Attended
This year’s annual Camaro Buyers, Builders, and Owners Meet & Greet, or BBOMG, ran from Thursday, August 15 through August 18, 2013 in Detroit, Michigan. If you’ve never heard of it or been to the BBOMG, you are missing out! Our very own internet sales director Eric Hall was lucky enough to go this year, and he filled us in on the details!
At the annual BBOMG event, people can look at others’ Camaros, show off their own, get parts and tips, and have a party, because, of course, they're also there to celebrate the Camaro! Classic Chevrolet was, yet again, one of the platinum sponsors of the event! The event is held in a different location every year, and this year, Detroit was chosen. BBOMG makes it a point to really involve the culture of the chosen city, and this year’s BBOMG had the essence of Detroit written all over it! The city of Detroit, including the police and fire departments, were involved in the event and the Dream Cruise event, especially.
Thursday, the first day, was reserved for hotel arrivals and registration for the BBOMG during the morning and afternoon, but, once evening hit, people started having fun with a social at 5:00 p.m. at TGI Friday’s, then head to Woodward Avenue. After the cruise-in, there was a parking lot party that lasted until all hours of the night.
For those who were able to get up early enough the next day, people met at 8:30 a.m. for the convoy to the GE Heritage Center. At the GE Heritage Center, those participating got a tour of the GM Heritage Collection.
Patrons also attended the 5th annual BBOMG banquet, live auction, and charity raffle. They also listened to special guests Scott Settlemire and Ken Lingenfelter. After that guests could choose to attend the dance party in the hotel’s ballroom or party out in the hotel parking lot.
Saturday featured an all-day party with the Dream Cruise on Woodward Avenue, which is the big highlight of the conference. The Dream Cruise featured all of the classic cars, custom jobs, and new Camaro’s that Chevy and car enthusiasts could show off. then after 9:30 p.m. there was another party in the hotel’s parking lot.
A great time was had by all, including Classic Chevy who sponsored the event. If you don’t have a Camaro to show off, stop by Classic Chevy today to test drive one of the many Camaro vehicles on the lot. You are sure to find one you love, especially if you have that insatiable need for speed!
Chevy Spark EV
The Chevrolet Spark EV is an all-new vehicle for 2014. Its best features are its useful real-world range, spacious interior and standard features. The Spark is a fully electric vehicle and come in two different trim levels: 1LT and 2LT. The electric Spark looks a lot like the gas version, except it is a bit more aerodynamic. Differences between the two vehicles include rear diffusers, 15-inch alloy wheels, underbody panels, a roof spoiler and active grille shutters. The shutters close at a certain speed so the vehicle has improved airflow. Ask your salesperson at a Texas Chevy dealer about the advantages of the Spark EV.
When you open the hood, don’t expect to see the 1.2-liter four-cylinder that is in the gas Spark – or any other gas engine for that matter. Instead, you’ll see an electric motor that works in conjunction with a 21-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. You may be thinking that this is not going to produce enough horsepower for this car to even think about getting out of its own way, but you would be off the mark. The electric motor and battery combination put out 130 horsepower.
According to Chevy, the Spark EV goes from 0 to 60 mph in just over 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of about 90 mph. A full battery charge is estimated to give you about 82 combined miles of highway and city. This is equal to about 119 MPGe combined, according to Edmunds.
Chevy states that when plugged into a 120-volt receptacle, it takes the Spark EV about 20 hours to completely charge. If you plug it into a 240-volt receptacle, it takes about 7 hours to charge. You can also purchase an options combination charger – this will give you an 80 percent charge in about 20 minutes.
Standard features on both trim levels include heated front seats, streaming audio, Bluetooth, USB and auxiliary ports, a six-speaker audio system and a 7-inch color touchscreen display.
The one con about the Spark is that the battery eats up some of the cargo space. Even so, you still have 9.6 cubic feet of cargo space. When you fold down the rear seat, you have 23.4 cubic feet of cargo space.
While the Chevrolet Spark EV will be available this summer, it will only be available in California and Oregon. Keep in touch with the sales people at Classic Chevrolet for more information on the availability of the Spark EV.

Remembering Where You Parked
This is a big one. Huge. How many times have you parked at the mall and tried to remember where your car was to no avail? Thought so. With the MyChevrolet phone app, you can set it to remember where you parked. You can take pictures and notes to capture details about the location. The app also lets you set an alarm for the time your meter is to expire so you can avoid getting a parking ticket.
How many times have you gone to grab the owner’s manual only to find that someone moved it and didn’t put it back? Chances are, you’ve had to go looking for it more than once. The MyChevrolet phone app keeps you from wasting time looking for the owner’s manual – it has the manual right on the phone. So next time you need to look up towing specs, reset the radio, check for information on fluids or anything else, just pull the owner’s manual up on your phone.

Silverado Does Well in Crash Testing
The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado High Country and Sierra Denali crew cabs, now available at Classic Chevrolet, are two of the first full-size trucks to receive the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) five-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety. According to GM Inside News, about 60 percent of all truck sales are for crew cabs.
When NHTSA figures its Overall Vehicle Score, it looks at many safety measures including lane departure warning and other electronic aids, crash test results and many of the vehicle’s other safety components. The Silverado models receive five-star crash test ratings for frontal and side impact crashes and four stars for roll overs.
Chevrolet’s Safety Features
Safety features include daytime running lamps with automatic exterior lamp control, OnStar, which includes six months of Directions and Connections, Automatic Crash Response, Stolen Vehicle Assistance and several other features, a tire pressure monitoring system and a rear vision camera with dynamic guide lines.

Chevy Wins JD Power and Associates Award
In July 2013, GM made history – the top spot in the J.D. Power & Associates award for the best Initial Quality Study for the heavy-duty Chevrolet Silverado. The Silverado is built in the United States at GM’s Flint, MI, plant. The GMC Sierra took second place.
The Initial Quality Study rates how all consumers rate their new vehicles, thus Chevrolet competes for the award with all other auto manufacturers. Almost 83,500 people purchased or leased a 2013 vehicle in 2013 – these were the consumers that were polled.
The scores are based on the number of problems per 100 vehicles that people run into during the first 90 days of ownership. GM, which includes Chevrolet, was the only manufacturer that scored under 100 problems per 100 vehicles.
If you are in the market for a new vehicle and are considering a Silverado, stop in at Classic Chevrolet to test drive one of the Silverado vehicles on the lot. The new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD features a 6.0-liter Vortec V-8 engine that runs on unleaded fuel or FlexFuel. It can run on up to 85 percent ethanol. The harness is a seven-wire harness and includes wiring for parking lamps, backup lamps, left and right turn signals, an electric brake lead, and the battery and ground wires.
