The Chevrolet Trax is one of the most affordable subcompacts in the U.S. It is a great choice for drivers in Arlington and beyond who desire a spacious commuter vehicle with good fuel economy. This model is also known for quiet rides, which is ideal if peaceful commutes are a top priority. Its affordability is attractive if you wish to stay under a certain number.
So, is the Chevrolet Trax reliable? Online reviews make it clear that the Chevrolet Trax is a dependable vehicle. Check out what critics have to say about Chevrolet Trax reliability and performance:
“The 2026 Chevy Trax isn’t the most powerful subcompact SUV on the market, but we’ve found it surprisingly satisfying to drive. Its small, turbocharged 3-cylinder engine is a bit coarser than the segment’s more common 4-cylinder engines, but it’s responsive enough around town and delivers sufficient power for highway merging. The Trax is an eager and competent little SUV with great steering and brake feel. Nearly every reader review comments on the Trax’s excellent ride quality. We agree it’s pretty good, if a tad on the firm side. Active noise cancellation helps minimize the outside racket that reaches your ears.”
“The Trax has a modest powertrain consisting of a 137-hp turbocharged 1.2-liter inline-three cylinder engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive isn’t available even as an option. The Trax gets off the line with enough gusto to avoid feeling sluggish around town, but you’ll notice the lack of power when merging or passing on the freeway. Still, we prefer its conventional six-speed automatic over the continuously variable transmissions (CVTs) found in many of its rivals, as this transmission shifts smoothly and avoids the droning found in CVT-equipped competitors such as the Honda HR-V and Subaru Crosstrek. Handling is decidedly carlike, and the Trax feels more agile than many of its rivals. Its brake pedal feels reassuringly firm underfoot, and the steering is predictable and relatively communicative given its basic-transportation mission.”
Chevrolet Trax reliability is also noted by J.D. Power and Associates. The Trax received a reliability rating of 84 out of 100. Their overall consumer-verified rating for this vehicle is 83 out of 100.
